Your Bones Are Getting Weaker Year after Year, But There Are Ways to Keep Them Healthy

According to experts, our bones start getting weak and fragile after the age of 35 years. And it is also believed that women are more subjected to face such kinds of health issues. This kind of medical condition is also known as Osteoporosis.

But, it is not necessary that weak bones can only be found in a patient with osteoporosis, it can either be a normal calcium deficiency but, still, there is a probability. Now, let’s know something more about osteoporosis so that one can identify the disease and cure it as soon as possible.

Osteoporosis is a condition in which our body observes the deficiency of bone tissue. As we all know, that our bone is living tissue and the creation and destruction of bone tissue are always there in our body.

But when a patient is a suspect of this condition, the following cycle of bone tissue gets highly disturbed and can even cause “bone loss”. It affects the generation process of bones and as the older bones are getting destroyed or they die by themselves and the new ones are unable to meet the requirement and replace them correspondingly hence, it finally turns out to be Osteoporosis.

Symptoms of Weaker Bones

Although, symptoms are not that clear for Osteoporosis as they are quite similar to normal pains and other bone-related problems. Back pain (In the spinal cord), loss of height over time, and curved posture are some of the symptoms that you might face if, you’re a patient with Osteoporosis.

When Osteoporosis affects your bone recreation process, the generation of new bone tissue either completely stops or slows down. But as the old bone tissue kept on dying so, the body is unable to meet the desired requirement. Consequently, our bones respond to this and start getting weaker day by day and finally there is a time when a particular bone gets completely disappeared from the body and such type of condition is often called “Bone Loss”

Reasons for Weaker Bones

Finding out reasons are the most important aspect of any disease or medical problem. We can easily be cured or treat the disease if we have reasons in our hands. These can be the following reasons that may give birth to Osteoporosis in your bones and if, you are practicing any of them then, it is highly recommended to stop it as soon as possible.

1.    Calcium Deficiency

The deficiency of calcium is one of the most common reasons for osteoporosis and any other bone-related issue.

That is the reason behind why a child is more forced to drink milk as compared to an adult. To make their bones strong from initial ages, it is really important to do so.

Calcium can also reduce the chance of Osteoporosis as it helps to nourish the bones and their tissues. So, if you are not consuming calcium-rich food then you’re giving an invitation to such problems.

2.    Being overweight

Although this is not that strong reason for the condition, it can surely help in making the situation worse and can increase the effects.

Being overweight and facing problems like Osteoporosis can make your circumstance even worse. As the load and weight of your body are on the earth due to bones and that means some portion of your weight is even bear by your bones.

Moreover, you may face pain in your knees, lower back, spinal cord, and other parts of the body which, act as a medium between you and the ground. So, being overweight can again make the conditions uncontrollable and more painful. So this is another practice or condition that needs your effort immediately to prevent Osteoporosis.

3.    Smoking daily

“Smoking kills” there are several reasons why this is written and even mentioned in the TV ads and commercials of these products and Osteoporosis is one of those reasons.

Smoking, drinking, and all other methods of inputs of these toxic materials have their effect on your body and Osteoporosis is one of them.

Consuming alcohol, tobacco, or smoking cigarette can even cause Osteoporosis apart from cancer. These things that you consume for your desires and fun are making you weak and directly affect your bones and other organs of the body.

4.    Not exercising

Exercise and other physical activities are essential parts of our life. As the world has become automated, these activities are have been, however, suppressed.

We as a wise animal do not perform such tasks as compared to our forefathers and other animals of our species. Most of the work in which we are involved in is usually requires mental strength not physical. This reason, why most of us are dealing with problems like Osteoporosis, heart attack, brain stroke, and other diseases. We need to understand, that our human body is highly made for doing physical activity but, if we’ll not move our body or push its physical as well as its mental limits then, disease, pain, and other unusual things are obvious.

To maintain the tendency of the human body, we should do some physical movement and challenge our muscles to grow them and meet the human tendency.

You can also perform it by doing some physical work or a light walk in the evening or morning can also be beneficial, working out with heavy and expensive equipment is not only the key.

5.    Maintaining testosterone or estrogen

Deficiency of testosterone or estrogen can also be a reason for your weak bones and that may give rise to Osteoporosis.

Now, what is testosterone or estrogen?

Testosterone is a male hormone that usually reveals its presence in the adolescence of a boy. The level of testosterone decides that how manly a boy will look. Whereas, estrogen is a female and plays a similar role in a girl’s body. These hormones are also known as “Sex Hormones”

These hormones (testosterone for boys and estrogen for girls) play a very prominent role in our body as most of our looks, function, and other processes like our voice, breast size in girls, hair growth in boys, etc. Depend on it. And this list also includes the reformation of bone tissues.

That’s why maintaining hormonal levels is important to make our life process smooth.

Is there any treatment?

To be honest, there is no such particular treatment for this condition. Either you should prevent it completely or as soon as you find a symptom immediately and it consults a doctor and try to avoid the above conditions (reasons).

Doctors advise that anyone who is facing this problem first should be aware of it like its consequences, effects, symptoms, and prevention, Although there is no need to visit a doctor at the initial stages, only if you are confident to cure it. But there is nothing to be afraid of, Bones can get strong by doing exercise, taking a balanced diet, consuming all the vitamins and minerals in a proper amount like protein, vitamin D, and the most importantly, calcium.

As precaution is better than cure, we should take care of our bones and diet and pay some extra attention to minerals like protein and calcium. As protein helps to make the muscle strong whereas calcium helps in making the bones stronger. Some protein and calcium-rich food that you should consume are -:

  • Chicken
  • Fish

  • Milk
  • Chickpeas
  • Nuts and dry fruits
  • Tofu
  • Spinach
  • Soybeans

Are you at a higher risk?

Like any other disease, this one also has some worse effects on some particular types of human beings. And if you want to know that whether you come in this list or not then, you must at least have a glance at the following criteria and match it with yours -:

  1. Sex- Doctors believe that females are more prone to osteoporosis than that of a male. Scientists and researchers believe that there is at least a difference of 4% in the numbers of the patient in both of the genders.
  1. Age- Secondly, if you’re old, you are at greater risk than the younger ones. And that is quite obvious, as our age increases the risk factor of any disease or disorder increases with weaken immunity.
  1. Genetics- If you’re father or mother are had this problem then the chances or probability increase that you’ll also suffer from Osteoporosis.

Conclusion

One should not be afraid of this problem as you can easily prevent it by keeping a healthy diet and a good lifestyle. And something to remember here is that it usually starts developing in your body after 30. And this is the age from where the regular movement of our body gets some restriction and physical movement from our life reduces as most of the people are now a “White Collar”.

So, exercising and some other physical activity like playing a sport should be on our timetable. Along with that, you must follow a good and balanced diet to keep a check on your nutrition level and physical level.

Another thing that you should remember is that if you are above 35 then your meal should at least have 50% of the portion of calcium and protein. Along with that, regular blood pressure and sugar level should be monitored and if your bones are already weak due to some injury or from your childhood then, you must visit a doctor or pathology lab for a bone density checkup.

As the name suggests, the test is conducted to check the density of your bones, and you should check it in a fixed interval of time and if the density level kept on decreasing then there is a need for some special attention to your diet and daily routine.
